As Michael Jackson celebrates his slam dunk acquittal on everything from plying a child with wine to false imprisonment to child molestation, his vindication this day may be an early Father’s Day present to dads, globally.

How Was He Acquitted?

Let’s examine how the Jackson 12 arrived at a verdict of Not Guilty on all 10 counts:

Although at first I did not agree with Jackson attorney Mesereau’s strategy, in the end it was brilliant and it worked. Mesereau, like the prosecution, called no experts. To my knowledge Jackson never tested via Penile Plethysmography or Abel Screen (www.abelscreen.com) whether or not he displayed sexual interest or arousal to pre or post-pubescent boys. And we know from the 1998 Hanson – Bussiere Meta Analysis that sexual interest precedes sexual abuse, so one would think that testing Jackson might be something to think about it. Never happened. Moreover, Mesereau never critiqued via his own expert the so-called forensic interviews of Jackson’s accuser. Didn’t Have to.

Mesereau attacked the case by using fact and character witnesses – trying he said against they said. And his icing on the cake was testimony from celebrities MacCauley Culkin, Jay Leno and Chris Tucker. Was the jury star-strucked? Perhaps.

How Does Jackson’s Acquittal Help Fathers?

Think about it! One of the greatest musicians to ever grace America – Michael Jackson – has just ‘Beat It.’ It doesn’t matter how or why, but the fact that he won is a huge boon for dads, globally. His vindication will engender a heightened awareness to the issue of false child sex abuse accusations. His vindication puts a “face” on the scarlet letter of false sex abuse that has haunted men and fathers across this planet for the past 20+ years. Fathers across America can thank the Jackson 12 for bringing back the presumption of “innocence until proven guilty,” and for not “erring on the side of the child.”
