Viagra Maker Pfizer Is Sponsor Of Sexist 'Go Red For Women' Campaign

February 28, 2004

The American Heart Association has recently launched their “Go Red for Women” educational program – which totally ignores the fact that men have a 70% higher risk of dying from heart disease than women.

The Pfizer drug company, headquartered in New York City, is the company that manufacturers – and earns millions of dollars annually from – Viagra, which treats erectile dysfunction (http://www.viagra.com).

But it turns out that Pfizer is also a sponsor of the sexist “Go Red for Women” program!

In other words, when you buy Viagra, the profits are turned around to support a gender-biased program at the American Heart Association.

There’s something wrong with this picture.

We need to complain to Pfizer about the sexist “Go Red for Women” program that they are funding.

Here’s the contact information:

Vanessa Aristide, Media Relations (she is the one who is responsible for cardiovascular health issues at Pfizer)
Telephone: 1-212-733-3784
E-mail: Vanessa.aristide@pfizer.com

PS – We have learned that the top brass at the American Heart Association is beginning to get the message that “Go Red for Women” is bad for men and women. But we need to keep the pressure up! Please contact Pfizer now with your concern.
