Professor Baskerville Responds to Larry Elder's Recent
Column
Dear Mr. Elder,
You are precisely correct that something fishy is going on in the column
you cite on unmarried fathers and child support, but the situation is much
more complex than you allow. The fact is these fathers are being manipulated
in a sophisticated game of political propaganda and political posturing
by very powerful forces. By portraying these fathers as "victims," the divorce
industry is setting them up as a counterpoise to the middle-class divorced
fathers who comprise some 81% of child support obligors, who constitute
the cash cows of the divorce racket, and whom for this reason it wants to
portray as the "real" deadbeat dads for purposes of wholesale plunder.
I urge you to read my enclosed brief article from WorldNetDaily and a longer
version from the Catholic World Report that exposes this dangerous machine.
You could be an important voice in exposing what may well be the most pernicious
abuse of government power in our time: a machine that uses children to plunder
and terrorize their parents and virtually destroy the Bill of Rights.
In fact, there is no evidence that either group of fathers has "abandoned"
their children. They are being thrown out of their families, for reasons
the enclosed article indicates.
Yours sincerely,
Stephen Baskerville, PhD
