The MND Forum
Got a Rat Problem? Burn Down the Wharf!
January 11, 2004
Mike LaSalle has wiped the forum clean, and I do not blame him.
Just before retiring to bed on Friday night I thought that I would have a general look around the place given that matters seemed to be 'heating up', and some of what I saw really shocked me.
There were some very heavy-duty insults flying around - most directed at women and a few at other activists.
I didn't realise that things had gotten so bad in a few parts of
the forum.
Goodness. I thought that I was bad enough when it comes to woman-bashing
etc - but many of the posts in some of the sections were way, way,
way beyond even my unwholesome tongue.
Indeed, not only were there things said in some of the posts that I would never say, I would not even think them!
I don't blame Mike for getting heavy handed and trashing the whole lot. I think I would have done the same if I had been in his shoes.
And I certainly would not have wasted hours of my time wading through all the posts to see which specific ones to delete.
No.
Thank.
You.
In fact, one of the reasons that I do not have a forum on angryharry.com
is because of the nightmare involved in monitoring it.
I saw a loooong time ago that monitoring a popular forum required
an enormous amount of work, a great deal of commitment, and that it
was also a thankless task.
And, of course, if things were to get too far out of line, the web
hoster would simply just cut the site, without so much
as a comment or an argument.
I know.
I've been there! with my old site - which simply disappeared into thin air one sunny morning just over 3 years ago.
LOL!
And, in Mike La Salle's case, the advertisers would also disappear.
He was in an impossible position. He had to do something.
I don't think that Navyblue's recent presence has helped (a woman moderator!) but I didn't quite realise what she was having to deal with - until last night.
I rather thought that she was fussing about nothing (i.e. a typical woman!) when she started to cut out whole threads.
Outrageous!
But last night I saw that I was wrong.
(And there's nothing new there!)
There was some really bad stuff in some of the posts.
And there was no way that it could be allowed to continue - and certainly not on a site like MND where Mike is trying to gain some further mainstream credibility for the men's movement.
And how is he supposed to do this? - while unfettered rowdy aggressive bar brawls are being fought hither and thither all over the place?
We need a little more 'finesse' in our wholesome woman-bashing tactics.
Yes. 'Finesse' - a word that many Americans clearly do not know the meaning of - though I noticed that a few Brits and Scandinavians were just as bad. (Thank goodness that the Irish don't seem to have been involved!)
Anyway. Johann has kindly put up a forum that will cater most handsomely for the more vocally outrageous of you, and this will also alleviate the stresses on MND, but, be warned, my fellow warriors, if it goes too far - wherever that might be - it is likely to be axed by the webhoster.
Finally, what we have here is yet another demonstration of how the men's movement will grow - is growing.
There is firstly a build up of activity in a certain area of cyberspace - in this case, the MND forum. And then pieces spilt off into different factions - and they do their own thing.
This is the way that it is going to be.
This is the way that it has been.
This is how cyberspace works!
(It happens in the adult industry too!)
And so when I see yet another activist claiming that we, on the internet, need to organise ourselves into one large cohesive group, I am going to shoot him.
I don't care where he lives.
I don't care how far I have to travel.
I don't care how many dependant relatives he has.
I am, quite simply, going to shoot him.
And if his name is Eric, I am going to torture him first.
LOL!
There is never going to be one group that is the Men's Movement.
And I am getting fed up of having to keep pointing this out.
The groups will keep splitting!
The "Men's Movement" is going to be made up of the collection of ideas, thoughts, notions, desires and needs of men statistically summated and loosely coordinated both within and outside of cyberspace.
Get used to it.
Deal with it.
Anyway.
Every cloud has a silver lining.
In this case, we now have two forums where previously there was only one.
And this is progress!
Our invasion of cyberspace continues.
So.
All hands back on deck, please.
Gentlemen back to MND.
Hoodlums, scumbags and ne'erdowells over to Johann's site.
